This piece for two cellos navigates between prayer and requiem, encapsulating my introspections during solitude this year. I aim to wield control over the midnight thoughts that plagued me, transforming them into a reflection and battle within. Initially, a solo cello introduces the melody of the renowned prayer "Kaddish," praising God and associated with mourning. The second cello harmonizes, symbolizing personalized worship, while unresolved harmonies evoke the struggle of finding meaning amid loss and uncertainty.

The piece utilized algorithmic composition techniques to generate an accompaniment that responded to the fundamental frequency of the violin. Featuring a synthesized vocal performance, the composition incorporated AI-generated lyrics that delved into the realm of consciousness. The spatial properties of the violin part were controlled by analyzing brain waves recorded through a single-channel Arduino-based EEG. To orchestrate and synchronize all components seamlessly, a comprehensive Max MSP patch was developed.  

Tweets about Bilkent University were converted to MIDI through Python and then imported into Logic in order to create an auditory presentation of the data.
